Tracking Positioning legs in LogTen is quite easy! This feature is built into your application for ease of use.
Step 1: Log It
All you need to do is to change the Entry Type to Positioning. You can even enter duty times and a pay rate to track duty pay for commuting if you are lucky enough to be paid for commutes. You may need to enable the Entry Type to show under the Flights section.
To enable the Entry Type field on your Mac, click at the very top-left on LogTen → Settings → Flight → Entry Type (check the box):
On your iPhone or iPad, make the "Entry Type" field visible by selecting a flight, and tapping on the action button (...) at the top right. Then tap on Configure Fields → Configure Section and toggle entry type to "ON". You can learn how to make fields visible and invisible in LogTen by following our "Customizing LogTen" artitcle:
Step 2: Create a Smart Group for Easy Filtering
There isn't really a step 2, but you can go a step further and create a smart group to filter just your deadhead flights. The following smart group shows all the deadheads.
Mac
On the main Flights section tap the + button at the very bottom left corner and select "New Smart Group". In the "Show .....logbook entry types." dropdown menu select "Positioning". You can rename it too, so that you can easily identify it. It will look like below:
On iPhone and iPad
In the Analyze tab, tap the plus button next to the “Smart Groups” section. Then tap the newly created Smart Group and select “Edit” from the top right. Choose “Show” and select “Positioning” to filter your flights by those set as positioning as explained earlier in the article.
