FAQs: LogTen 2026.1 Sync & Backup Upgrade

This FAQ outlines LogTen’s move to a new sync and backup system to improve performance and reliability. Users should update to version 2026.1 or later by April 30, 2026 to continue syncing and backing up, with a quick upgrade that preserves all data.

Updated over 3 weeks ago

Q1. Why am I being asked to switch sync?

We’re upgrading the system that powers LogTen’s sync and backup. Syncing to the new system provides the foundation for ongoing improvements to sync and backup performance.

Q2. Do I have to switch now?

You do not have to switch immediately. You can snooze the prompt, but after 30 April 2026 the older sync and backup system will stop connecting your devices and creating new cloud backups. Don’t worry: your existing cloud backups, and the logbook on each device, will remain safely stored. However, you’ll need to update and switch to the new sync and backup to continue syncing between devices and creating new backups in the cloud.

We recommend switching to 2026.1 (or higher) as soon as you can to keep everything up to date.

Q3. What do I need to do to upgrade to the new sync and backup?

Update LogTen to version 2026.1 or later and tap the “Sync Now” button.

LogTen will back up and sync your data automatically and show your progress until the sync is complete. For most logbooks it takes less than a minute.

Q4. Will I lose any data?

The new sync is designed to carry your existing logbook forward as it is. It includes integrity checks and a safety rollback if something doesn’t look right. We recommend updating all your devices to LogTen 2026.1 or later before syncing.

Q5. Will my devices still sync if one device is on an older version?

No. Devices on versions earlier than LogTen 2026.1 (or higher) will not sync with devices that have updated to the new system. Each device will still have its own data, but new changes will not be exchanged until everything is updated. We recommend you update all devices to 2026.1 as soon as possible.

Q6. How long does the sync update take?

It depends on the size of your logbook and your network connection. LogTen will display progress so you can see what is happening and will complete the sync without any extra steps from you. For most logbooks, it will take less than a minute.

Q7. Can I restore my logbook to one of my backups in ?

Yes. If you have questions, please don’t hesitate to contact our support team.
